Widely recognized for its LEED-certified, energy- and water-efficient designs, Santa Monica, California–based LivingHomes specializes in prefab and custom residences that are as beautiful and comfortable as they are practical. Although architect Ray Kappe and architectural firm KieranTimberlake developed a selection of contemporary-style homes—many of which feature floor-to-ceiling windows, large decks, and alternative materials—that are built prior to being installed on the homeowner’s site, clients who were not starting from scratch repeatedly approached LivingHomes for consultations on renovations and minimizing an existing project’s ecological footprint. The firm responded by formally introducing LivingHomes Services, which assists homeowners, architects, and builders with analyzing how improvements may be made through efficient systems and appliances, green interior design, and other sustainability strategies. LivingHomes Services is flexible to the client’s needs, and can be used in developing and managing a project’s LEED certification and documentation, or be as simple as a suggestion for a furniture plan and color scheme for homeowners to carry out on their own.
