Follow the Sun
The finishing touch to your vacation home.

Dedon, the German company that is producing sophisticated outdoor furnishings that can also be used indoors, has come out with two new pieces that are perfectly named.![]() | ![]() |
Orbit is a circular beach chair that comes with the option of a retractable cloth canopy, all the better to shield you from the sun, wind, sand or prying eyes. “Orbit was designed to be sexy and fun for two,” says Janice Feldman of Janus et Cie, which distributes Dedon’s products in the United States. Even better, underneath Orbit are in-line skate wheels that make it possible to rotate the chair to face the sun. Moving it from one room to another is a breeze, too. When you lift it up, two large rubber wheels descend, as they do from an airplane’s undercarriage; when you put it back down, the wheels retract. As in all of Dedon’s products, Orbit, which was designed by Richard Frinier, is made of Hularo, the synthetically woven, nontoxic fiber that is resistant to damage from UV rays and mildew.

four main elements—right arm, left arm, center and corner units, plus side
tables—that can be put together in a multitude of seating arrangements and can
be converted into a daybed for guests. Like Orbit, Lounge’s powder-coated
aluminum frame and polished stainless steel feet mean that it can be left
outdoors. Feldman has covered the slanted back cushions and pillows in mohair
for one client’s living room. “The Hularo fiber is fabulous if you have animals
and kids,” she says. “They can jump all over it and you can basically hose it
off in the back yard.”
