| Fractional ownership under the Tuscan sun. |

Borgo di Colleoli is a new concept in the multidimensional world of private
residence clubs. Set on 23 acres of vineyards and olive groves, the Borgo is a
medieval village, halfway between Florence and Pisa, in the hills of Tuscany.
Once a working estate, the original buildings of this aptly named “Village of the Hill of Olives” have been accurately restored to create a community
for fractional, quarter-share and whole-ownership villas and residences.
Borgo’s boutique hotel, Il Palazzo, was formerly a manor house belonging
to the Agostini family in the 15th century. "Click image to enlarge"
For
most of the Borgo’s history, the village was ostensibly owned by the Agostini
family, who were involved in silk production in Pisa. The Agostini manor house,
where the family crest remains above the front door, dates to 1494; it was
recently renovated to create Il Palazzo, a boutique hotel that is now a member
of Small Luxury Hotels of the World. The hotel’s restaurant and wine bar, I
Secoli and Il Concilio dei Sensi, have Michelin-star aspirations—the wine bar
has more than 500 selections, with many of the 137 local Chiantis available
for tasting. Like many destination clubs, the residences near the hotel have
guest access and privileges.
“We wanted to create a club with built-in tiers
so that members could always move to a larger, more elegant lifestyle if they
wanted to,” says Brian Martin, managing director of Craggenmore, the Scottish
luxury development group that is behind the Borgo. “We have a location that
entices owners to spend more time with us. Our challenge was to provide a
product that could match their developing needs.”
